Month long artist residency at the charming medieval town of Hyères.
Ruben Marroquin is an American artist who works primarily with textiles and a variety of unconventional materials. He has developed an innovative technique of textile relief through years of studio practice.
Marroquin is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NY, he specialized in weaving on computerized looms and textile/surface design.
He has taught weaving classes in schools, museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and colleges, including 4 years at F.I.T. as a T.A. His work was recently selected as part of the permanent collection of the U.S. Consulate in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora in northern Mexico by Art in Embassies.
He works between New York City and Bridgeport, CT
